Context

The construction industry’s lack of experience in utilizing waste from various sources and the barriers to the marketing of products containing recycled materials are recognized obstacles to the recovery of waste in construction materials and systems for both new construction and renovation projects. Additionally, the lack of information regarding the availability and characteristics of waste suitable for incorporation into construction materials and systems, the lack of understanding of waste classification mechanisms, and the inherent complexity of the process of placing such products on the market, particularly with regard to compliance with the requirements imposed by the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR), contribute to the issue. Furthermore, continued efforts are still needed to build credibility for unconventional construction materials among specifiers and project owners.

Main objectives

ConstruirCIRCULAR aims to promote the recovery of waste that can be incorporated into construction materials and building systems by transferring R&D knowledge to the business community in the construction sector, with a focus on the Central Region, in order to foster partnerships, facilitate innovation processes, and minimize barriers to bringing these products to market. It will develop a digital platform, map opportunities for industrial symbiosis, organize exhibitions and technology showcases, and promote interactions with the business community, facilitating innovation initiatives and overcoming barriers to market entry.

Activities

ConstruirCIRCULAR is structured around five main activities:
