MAIN OBJECTIVE | Strengthen research, technological development and innovation.

SCOPE

Breaking the chain of contagion continues to be one of the most effective ways to control outbreaks of infectious diseases, as the figures for the current COVID-19 pandemic suggest. However, social distancing measures, which allow for better management of the response to the disease and prevent the saturation of health services, are, at the same time, responsible for paralyzing various economic activities, causing incalculable loss.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

This project's main objective is to develop a modular cabin, with innovative features, that facilitates the implementation of social distancing and isolation measures in various professional activities. This can be used in factories, educational establishments, airports and other commercial and service establishments, including waiting rooms and open spaces, and can also be used to isolate suspected cases of infection.

ATIVIDADES DO PROJETO

Activity 1 – Preliminary studies and definition of requirements

Activity 2 – Physical realization of modular panels and quick fitting system

Activity 3 – Integration of the technical systems and validation of the final solution

Activity 4 – Definition of manufacturing rules, transport, assembly and use

Activity 5 – Promotion and dissemination of results

Activity 6 – Project management

MAIN RESULTS ACHIEVED

  • Activity 1 – Studies were carried out with a view to selecting materials and technologies to integrate in the new cabin. Functional requirements were also defined and manufacturing and assembly methods were preliminary established. Aspects relevant to the ease of production and maintenance needs throughout the life of the product were taken into account.
  • Activity 2 – All structural, subdivision and connection elements of the cabin were designed, developed and optimized. For this purpose, solutions were preferred that presented an advantage in terms of modularity, as well as ease and speed of assembly. Concerns related to the comfort and safety of the cabin in different application contexts were also taken into account.
  • Activity 3 – Several functional prototypes were built, demonstrating the feasibility of producing different cabin configurations, taking advantage of the concept of modularity, i.e., making use of a limited number of components. The assembly processes were evaluated and optimized and the performance of the main functional systems was tested.
  • Activity 4 – The various manufacturing, transport and assembly plans for the cabin were established, as well as technical documentation relevant to its commercialization.
  • Activity 5 – Several technical-commercial contents were produced from rendered images and real images collected during R&D activities. These contents served as a basis for disseminating the concept among potential target customers, as well as for broad dissemination within the technical and scientific community.
